Walk/run to help Bright Hope's mission for hungry kids

On Saturday, May 15, Bright Hope will host its eighth annual "Run for Hungry Children" 5K Run/3K Walk in three local sites: Hoffman Estates, West Chicago and Woodstock. There are 10.9 million children under the age of 5 who die of hunger every year. The proceeds will benefit orphans and vulnerable children in Haiti, Kenya and India. Every $60 raised feeds and educates two kids for one month. Join hundreds of walkers and runners in the fun while helping kids across the globe.

Walk-up registration on race day is $35 for ages 18 and older, and $15 for ages 5-7.

The schedule at all sites will be: registration/check-in from 6:45 to 7:45 a.m.

The 5K competitive race will be 8 a.m.; the 3K walk follows start of 5K. The free kids run 50-yard dash (ages 4-7) and 100-yard dash (ages 8-10) will be at 8:50 a.m.

A Post-Race Party and Awards Ceremony will kick off at the end of the event at 9 a.m. Free food, beverages, music and entertainment will be provided. To register online and set up your personal goal page go to www.RunForHungryChildren.org.

To help orphans and vulnerable children, bring your gently used shoes to race day. These shoes will be given to children in great need that now walk in bare feet or worn-out shoes. For information on Bright Hope, visit BrightHope.org, e-mail at info@BrightHope.org, or call (224) 520-6100.
