Lombard man charged in 7-Eleven robberies

A 21-year-old Lombard man is suspected in the attempted armed stickups of four local convenience stores.

Two of the robberies were successful, two failed, and the suspect has been charged in three of the crimes, authorities said.

Jarrell L. Densmore was arrested early Wednesday after an attempted armed robbery at a Glen Ellyn 7-Eleven and a successful armed robbery of a Wheaton 7-Eleven late Tuesday.

Shortly after the Wheaton robbery, DuPage County sheriff's deputies pulled over a car Densmore was driving because it matched the description of a car used in both incidents, police said. A pellet gun was found in the car, police said.

Sheriff's officials said Densmore walked into a 7-Eleven store at 3S035 Park Blvd. in Glen Ellyn just before midnight Tuesday, but was unsuccessful robbing the clerk there. Authorities said the robber displayed a handgun before fleeing.

About 15 minutes later, Wheaton police responded to a robbery call at the 7-Eleven at 1277 Butterfield Road. It is unknown how much money was taken in that robbery. Police said the description of the suspect from the attempted robbery matched the robber in Wheaton. The clerk from the Glen Ellyn store also was able to give police a description of the suspect's vehicle.

During interrogation, authorities said Densmore confessed to trying to rob two more 7-Elevens in Lombard late last month. One was successful and the other was not. Police said Densmore attempted to rob a 7-Eleven at 400 W. 22nd St. at about 10:30 p.m. on April 27. Police said the suspect displayed a gun and demanded money. Lombard Deputy Police Chief Dane Cuny said the robbery was thwarted when "the clerk asked the robber if he was serious."

The following day, a 7-Eleven at 2S651 Lloyd Ave. was robbed after a man walked in and displayed a handgun before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash. DuPage sheriff's officials said Densmore confessed to that robbery.

Densmore is being held at the DuPage County jail in Wheaton and awaiting a bond court hearing. He is charged with armed robbery and attempted armed robbery.
