Elgin's changing downtown has core of continuity
Aug 25, 2012 5:58 PM - The club of downtown Elgin businesses that have survived the booms and busts of the last few decades is getting smaller. But the owners who can boast 30, 40 and even more than 50 years of service are certainly present and planning to stay. Super Print closed at the end of July after about 30 years in town. Owners of Central Barbershop and Anderson's Engraving, both with 50 years in Elgin, mourn the loss of the business while looking ahead at their own futures.
