Tornado stories overlooked people

I have been a resident of Wildwood for the last 30 years. Our neighborhood was destroyed in the tornado this fall. I was disappointed to see that your coverage included a pizza place and the Grayslake High School roof, when many of us had our lives turned upside down. A neighborhood, filled with huge trees is gone. It's not the same place we lived the day before. We are still trying to get our homes fixed, months down the road.

Fallen trees, damaged buildings and a lot of bad memories were remnants of the EF-1 tornado that chewed a nasty, narrow path across Lake County. The tornado moved so fast, it beat the warning sirens.

Army Ranger Joseph Dimock II, who died in Afghanistan from injuries he suffered in an ammunition holding facility explosion, was honored posthumously Friday. In a ceremony on the fifth anniversary of his death Friday, a sign on westbound Route 120 near Grayslake village limits was unveiled to mark a stetch of the highway now dedicated to Dimock.
