    In the hours following lawmakers’ approval of same-sex marriage Tuesday, state Rep. Sam Yingling proposed to his partner at a celebratory party at the governor’s mansion. “I had been carrying a ring back and forth to Springfield for a while,” Yingling said Wednesday.

  • Former Woodland bus driver pleads guilty to molesting teenager Oct 17, 2013 4:51 PM
    A former Woodland District 50 school bus driver pleaded guilty Thursday to molesting a teenager. Kristin Vesley-Miks, 33, will serve 36 months on probation and must register as a sex offender for the rest of her life following the negotiated plea in Lake County court. She was also sentenced to 18 months of periodic imprisonment, but she won't serve any jail time if she completes her probation, authorities said.
