None injured in Wildwood apartment fire

Grayslake firefighters responded to a report of an apartment fire on the 32000 block of John Mogg Road in Wildwood on Sunday afternoon, fire officials said.

First responding crews saw smoke coming out of the second and third floor upon arrival. A resident of the apartment was able to use a fire extinguisher to contain and extinguish the fire before the arrival of the fire department, officials announced in a news release.

All residents of the building were able to get out by themselves and no one was injured. The building had working smoke detectors that alerted the residents, authorities said.

Grayslake Fire District estimated the damage to the apartment at approximately $10,000. An investigation over the cause of the fire is still underway, the release said.

The fire district was assisted by the Round Lake, Gurnee, Libertyville, and Mundelein Fire Departments.
