    In August, more than 1,000 supporters watched the induction of 66 new members into the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame, including three representatives of the tri-county area of DuPage, Kane and Kendall Counties. Area winners include: Laura Bennett, DuPage County; Carol McKellar, Kane County; and Mary Ann Petersen, Kendall County.

     
  • Tri-County 4-H members earn top honors at Illinois State Fair Sep 18, 2014 6:45 PM
    Tri-county 4-H’ers earned 34 Superior Honors and 60 Awards of Excellence at the Illinois State Fair junior exhibit judging in Springfield in August. Nearly 100 DuPage, Kane and Kendall County youth shared their qualifying 4-H projects with judges on Aug. 9. The Award of Excellence is given to youth whose county project earned them a trip to the Illinois State Fair.

    A new family entertainment center called Main Event opens Wednesday in Warrenville. The 48,000-square-foot building houses bowling, billiards, laser tag, arcade games, a full bar and two dining options. “It’s not often that you get a venue of this size and this shape come to your town and bring all the benefits that it brings to us, so we are absolutely delighted you’re here,” Warrenville Mayor David Brummel said during a ribbon-cutting Tuesday. “I hope that you’re here a long, long time and you prosper.”

    WHEATON, IL—Reducing the unemployment rate in DuPage County through its Community Workforce Employment Training program is one of the goals of 360 Youth Services and Loaves & Fishes Community Services. The two agencies, both located in Naperville, have partnered to make this program available to DuPage County residents, a program that was funded by a grant from The DuPage Community Foundation’s Community Needs Grant program.
