Lake Villa parks department closing Dec 30, 2010 12:00 AM
Lake Villa’s parks and recreation department has closed and will no longer offer programs and classes to residents due to budget woes. The classes and programs were funded entirely by participation fees, but that wasn’t enough to cover costs, officials said. It operated as a village department and not a separate taxing body, such as a local park district.

Smoke-free will be taken to another level at Round Lake Area Park District facilities. Beginning Aug. 1, not only will smoking be banned from all park grounds, but so will any tobacco product, including chewing tobacco and new entries that have yet to hit the Lake County market.
