Palatine Gun violence prevention groups from the greater Chicagoland area will be partnering with the OFA chapters to unite for honoring those victims tragically lost. 4,800 additional Americans murdered since the Newtown massacre, while Congress has failed to enact commonsense measures to reduce gun violence that are supported by 90% of the American people. Representative Peter Roskam, who will be a key player in deciding whether Congress will act on gun violence prevention, has been invited to attend but has not yet responded.

Players, families and community members took time to celebrate a dream that was 11 years in the making and finally came true — the Lake Zurich High School Boys Lacrosse team as state champions. The team’s motto “Dream Big, Work Hard,” was referenced by many of the players and coaches who spoke at a celebration of the team on Sunday, a gathering of more than 100 people at the high school field house after a short parade through town.

Barrington reverts to its winning ways, tops YorkJun 8, 2013 12:00 AM
On the final day of the girls softball season, the Barrington Fillies kicked up their heels for a final victory dance. This one came in the Class 4A third-place game on Saturday afternoon at the EastSide Centre, and it ended with a 5-1 victory over York. The Fillies’ 36-2 final record gave them the best single-season winning percentage (.947) in the 45-year history of the program.

A former Barrington Unit District 220 maintenance worker charged with the theft of district funds in late 2010 has pleaded guilty. William G. Schwartz, of Burlington, Wis. falsely billed the district at least $100,000 through two fictitious parts vendors, authorities say.
