    Five candidates slated by the Support the Library group will stay on the April 9 ballot in a contentious Carol Stream library board race, despite objections to their nominating petitions. The objections were filed by Elaine Wierdak, a former circulation desk clerk and coordinator at the library, who argued in a lawsuit that her employment was wrongfully terminated in April 2009.

The Schaumburg Township voters have placed their trust in the newly elected trustees and I would hope that the trustees will spend the taxpayers’ dollars wisely, the same as if they were spending their own funds.

    Challenger Bonnie Hulke beat out incumbent Cheryl Domokos for a seat on the Poplar Creek Library Board, unofficial results show. With 44 of 45 precincts reporting, incumbent Patricia Carl had the lead with 38 percent, and Hulke came in with 33 percent of the vote. Incumbent Domokos trailed Hulke by more than 3 percentage points.
