    A downstate woman who told police she was the victim of human trafficking has recanted her statements against two Chicago men charged in the case, a defense attorney said Monday. Defense attorney Eric F. Rinehart told Lake County Judge Victoria Rossetti that the unidentified woman now says in video and on her Facebook page that she was never forced to work as a prostitute by Aaron Thurmond, 23, of the 10000 block of Walden Park.

    As college seniors enter the workforce, some are frustrated by one factor that still enters the salary equation -- gender. According to the American Association of University Women, a gender pay gap not only exists, but it develops right away. Women working full time one year after graduation are paid an average of 18 percent less than men also working full time one year later. “We were really trying to get at a group that was as close to the same as possible right out of college," said Christianne Corbett of the AAUW. "And we still found a gap.”

    There was nothing but black and green atop the victory stand Saturday afternoon when the Stevenson boys tennis sectional came to a close on the sun-kissed courts of the Vernon Hills Athletic Complex. The Patriots recorded a clean sweep at doubles, then watched a nearly three-hour match finally swing in favor of freshman Benjamin Bush over senior Varun Parekh (Barrington). That outcome gave the hosts Patriots a third-place singles medal to go along its championship singles hardware from Jeremy Bush as Stevenson wrapped up the team title.

    The family of Mary Hutchison will finally see their daughter's accused murderer on trial. James Ealy, 48, of Lake Villa, will finally stand trial Monday for the murder at a Burger King on Grand Avenue in Lindenhurst. The case has been a litigators nightmare because of numerous legal hoops that needed to be jumped through.
