In 2017 alone, the Fox Valley Wildlife Center helped nearly 2,500 animals. A nonprofit organization supported solely by donations, the Elburn-based center is hoping for a good turnout at its April 7 dinner auction.

Maestro Philip Morehead, a Lyric Opera of Chicago veteran pianist and conductor, will direct "Tosca" on Sunday, April 29, at the First Methodist Church in Elgin. The staged production of Giacomo Puccini's famous opera will be performed with a smaller orchestra provided by Chamber Music on the Fox.

The Kane County 4-H Foundation will host its 10th annual pork chop dinner and auction fundraiser April 14. "This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it helps support 4-H Youth Development programs in our communities, as well as other valuable University of Illinois Extension programs," said Bill Collins, event co-chairman.
