    A Cary man lost his five-foot long alligator after an October 2011 drug bust, but is getting another chance to move forward without a felony conviction. Nicholas R. Cosmano, 27, recently pleaded guilty to misdemeanor marijuana possession and was sentenced to a year of conditional discharge, 40 hours community service, random drug tests, counseling, drug addiction treatment, and fined $4,400, court records show.

     
  •  A St. Charles art dealer is being sued by an insurance company, which argues the dealer lost or discarded an original lithograph of “Artistide Bruant Dans Son Cabaret, 1893” similar to the image shown above. French artist Henri Toulouse-Lautrec created three versions of a poster to promote Bruant, which were hung around Paris and are considered some of Toulouse-Lautrec’s most recognizable works. The lawsuit seeks more than $103,000 in damages.

    An insurance company has sued a St. Charles art dealer for $103,000, arguing the dealer lost an original lithography by the French artist, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. "Artistide Bruant dans son Cabaret, 1893" is regarded by some as one of Lautrec's most recognizable pieces. The defendant in the case has had financial problems, including a foreclosure that a bank started but later called off.

Abraham Barajas, 24, argues his rights were violated by police, who did not conduct a thorough investigation and ignored evidence favorable to him.

    Campton Hills trustees have given the go-ahead in their 2014 budget to have a village administrator. Ideally, they'd like to have a person hired by June, when the 2014 fiscal year starts. In coming months, the village's finance committee will hash out how much can be set aside and if that person is full- or part-time. Village President Patsy Smith has basically worn an administrator's hat for the last 5-plus years.

    A 19-year-old caretaker at a Batavia assisted-living facility who was arrested in December on charges that she stole and forged a $1,000 check from a resident now faces a new batch of charges. Batavia police say Teejana S. Perry of Warrenville stole from four other victims at the center. Warrants have been issued for the new charges; Perry is next due in court on Feb. 21.

    Bond set for third suspect in Aurora hammer slaying Feb 5, 2013 12:00 AM
    A judge set bail at $100,000 for the third man implicated in last week's murder of Abigail Villalpando, a 18-year-old West Aurora High School student. Jose M. Becerra, 20, of Oswego, is charged with concealment of a homicide; police say he helped move Villalpando's body to Montgomery after another person killed her with a hammer and burned her remains in a barrel.
