The federal lawsuit seeks class action status, a collective refund of $3,525 to the four plaintiffs and a reimbursement of $25.3 million collected from defendants in thousands of other cases.

Tegeler by seven votes, has five days after the Illinois State Board of Elections canvasses and certifies results on April 18 to ask for an exploratory recount.

    A Geneva defense attorney held a 7-vote lead Tuesday after all absentee and other votes were counted in a race for the Republican nomination for a Circuit Judge's seat in Kane County. D.J. Tegeler tallied 6,220 votes to 6,213 for Associate Judge Marmarie Kostelny, who has five days from April 8, when the results are canvassed, to ask for an exploratory recount. The winner will represent the GOP in the November election; no Democrat has filed so far.

    A close race for a 16th Judicial Circuit judge seat has become even closer absentee and other ballots have arrived in Kane County. Geneva attorney D.J. Tegeler's 26-vote lead has shrunk to 10 over Judge Marmarie Kostelny for the GOP nomination. Neither side has conceded as a possible 45 ballots must be counted by April 1. "This is a great civics lesson if nothing else," Tegeler said. "Do you say every vote counts? No kidding."
