  • Huntley’s Amtrak station should be ready November 2015 Nov 20, 2014 5:07 PM
    Amtrak passenger rail service should be up and running from Huntley’s downtown by November 2015, village officials said. The village board recently approved an agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation to begin construction work. The total project cost is estimated at $3.55 million, with the state reimbursing the village roughly $2.9 million. “This is really the kickoff of the project,” Village Manager Dave Johnson said.

The Soon to be Famous Illinois Author project is being coordinated in collaboration with the Illinois Library Association and Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS) and is supported by the American Library Association Digital Content Working Group, the Public Library Association (PLA), Illinois Heartland Library System.

    McHenry County College students will host a Pottery and Poinsettia Sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2. Ceramics students will sell one-of-a-kind handcrafted vases, trays, bowls, plates and mugs as well as other artistic pieces. The college's horticulture department will be offering several colors of poinsettias.

This year’s ceremony is in memory of Dr. William T. Sheehy, a urologist on staff at Sherman Hospital who passed away in November of last year at the age of 75.

    The Model Railroad Club of Sun City Huntley will be running model trains this holiday season, starting Saturday, Nov. 22, through Dec. 28. Each year, the club raffles off three model train sets. This year’s raffle is a Canadian Pacific Passenger Train set that includes engine, cars, track and a transformer.
