    The merger of Advocate Health Care and Northshore University Health Care System announced Friday aims to create the largest health care system in Illinois that will focus heavily on outpatient and home care and provide more technology to communicate with patients. The merger could be approved later this year when the newly christened Advocate Northshore Health Partners will have a combined 16 hospitals in Chicago, the suburbs and central Illinois.

    Lincolnwood officials say an off-duty paramedic delivered his baby girl after making an emergecy stop on the Edens Expressway near Touhy Ave. Daniel Lynch of the Evanston Fire Department and his wife, Elizabeth, were on their way to a local hospital early Friday morning when they pulled over to deliver the baby.

    Kane County prosecutors want some $270,000 seized in an April heroin bust in Aurora to be permanently forfeited to the state. Three people were arrested in the $1.35 million heroin bust and face various charges of drug possession and money laundering.
