The Teen Writers and Artists Project will host the “T-WAAP Sock Hop” dance marathon, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Marquee Youth Stage in the lower level of The Quad/Charlestowne Mall, 3800 E. Main St., St. Charles. “This is our first one,” said Executive Director Diana Zwinak, adding that organizers hope to raise $5,000, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation. “We can sustain our programming for the next year on that.”

Since he was hired for the 2010-11 academic year, Diaz has taken the program from eight to about 90 students.     Bilingual and special education teachers are in demand at Elgin Area School District U-46. The state’s second-largest school district with more than 40,000 students is hosting a job fair from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The district specifically is seeking English Language Learner-certified bilingual teachers for prekindergarten and kindergarten through 12th grades, as well as bilingual special education teachers.
