    The Batavia Public Library Tuesday reported to police the theft of books and DVDs, and accumulations of late fines, by four patrons. The total value is $1,221.72. A library spokesman said reporting to police is usually a last attempt to get the materials back.

    Patrons at the St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia libraries now have a new way to reserve and renew library items: Using their phones. The LINC consortium, which contains nine suburban library systems, including those from the Tri-Cities, has launched a service that allows patrons to manage their accounts via text messages on their phones.
