Colorful Pakistan Day Celebrations in Chicagoland's suburbs hosted by ASAN

March 23 is commonly known as "Pakistan Resolution Day" for Pakistani peoples. Pakistani-Americans around the U.S., including the Chicago area, celebrated each with traditional zeal in many places across the suburbs.

Every year, the Asian Senior Associations of North America (ASAN) hosted Beautiful and Colorful Pakistan Resolution Day and Pakistan Independence Day. The Pakistan Resolution Day was celebrated at Tandoori Restaurant, on Thursday, March 21, two days before the actual date. The event was organized by Tasneem Jamal and Monek Khan. Many Pakistani peoples also attended the historical event. At the beginning of the program, everyone welcomed the colorful presentation and proudly joined in to sing the national anthems of the United States and Pakistan.

ASAN's mission is to provide welfare activities for seniors and disabled individuals of all communities, ethnicities, races and ages located within the reach of the organization. It was operated by a group of retired individuals that have been involved in community organizing for several years in the Chicagoland area and are aware of the needs specific to the Asian American community.

On the Pakistan Resolution Day, the most colorful and enjoyable segment of the program was the sweetness of the occasion reflected in a cake-cutting ceremony (designed in Pakistani flag colors) with "Happy Pakistan Resolution Day 2019" written on it.

The most colorful and enjoyable segment was Sindhi wedding showmen and women were wearing Ajrak, (a block printed shawl), and Sindhi caps and wonderful Sindhi dresses and danced to the tunes of Sindhi songs.

Several community individuals were invited to performed speeches and singing Pakistani national songs.

Tasneem Jamal, event organizer, said, "We are promoting the message of love and peace in Chicago during the Pakistan Resolution Day. The event was made more special with the attendance of several of dignitaries including the Consul General of Pakistan Mr. Javed Ahmed Umrani and Mrs. Mareena Umrani. Many community members attended from Chicagoland and Enjoy Pakistani food Chicago area's well-known versatile and popular rock star Muzaffar Qureshi and Asif Siddiqi performed several hits Pakistani national songs."

Many prominent community members and organization joined in with the organizers to hold the successful event and were duly thanked by the hosts Tasneem Jamal and Monek Khan.

According to many attendees, they truly enjoyed the culture, heritage and hospitality provided by ASAN.
