Lombard seeks Senior of Year nominees

Lombard is seeking nominations for its 13th Annual Senior of the Year Awards, which recognize outstanding seniors who volunteer or go above and beyond to positively benefit the community.

The Senior Man and Senior Women of the Year Awards will be presented at the village's Senior Fair, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Lombard Community Building at Lombard Common Park. The awards will be presented at 10 a.m.

All nominees will be recognized and the winning seniors will ride in the 2019 Lilac Time Parade.

Nominees must have an incorporated Lombard home mailing address and be 65 or older. Nominations must include a statement of 50 words or less on why the nominee should be considered, as well as a short biography of the nominee.

"Lombard is home to so many inspiring senior citizens who continue to give back to our community," said Trustee Robyn Pike, chairwoman of the community relations committee, which helps organize the event.

"We're really hoping that residents will take this opportunity to nominate a neighbor, friend, or family member."

All nominations must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, for consideration. The committee will vote for the winner on Monday, Sept. 10.

Nominations may be mailed to Village of Lombard, Attention: "Senior of the Year," 255 E. Wilson, Lombard, IL 60148, or emailed to communications@villageoflombard.org.
