Annual summer sack lunch program begins in St. Charles

The St. Patrick Parish Service Planning Committee will be providing a free sack lunch for those in need during the summer months. No registration or paperwork is required.

The program is designed to provide free lunches to school-aged children who may not otherwise receive a lunch during the summer months.

Many children are eligible for a free or reduced lunch during the school year; however, when school is not in session, these lunches are not available. The Sack Lunch Program is designed to fill the gap during the summer months.

Sack lunches will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays, June 13 to Aug. 15, at Redeemer Fellowship Church, 1125 Oak St. in St. Charles.

Each sack lunch contains one peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a juice box, bag of chips, a package of sweet treats, and a squeezable fruit pouch. A peanut-free sandwich is available for those with peanut allergies.

This program is funded through the gifts of the St. Patrick parishioners and its volunteers who help make the sandwiches and pack the lunches.
