Huntley Police Department joins in 'Cop on Top' for Special Olympics Illinois

On Friday, May 18, the Huntley Police Department will take to the sky in support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois from 5 a.m. to noon at both Huntley Dunkin Donuts locations, 12090 Princeton and 9800 Route 47.

For the 15th year the Police Department will participate in "Cop on Top" in order to raise awareness and money for Special Olympics Illinois.

Officers will take to the roof top of Dunkin Donuts throughout the day in support of Special Olympics.

On the ground, a variety of officers and community members will be collecting donations, selling 2018 Law Enforcement Torch Run merchandise and spending time with Special Olympic athletes.

A doughnut-eating contest will be held at noon at the Princeton location. Participants in the contest will include representatives from the Police Department, Village of Huntley, Huntley Park District, Huntley Area Unit District 158, Dunkin Donuts, First Choice Physical Therapy, Northern Illinois Special Recreation, Special Olympics, Trelevate, Liberty Mutual Insurance and Tom Peck Ford.

Everyone who makes a donation to Special Olympics will receive a coupon for a free doughnut.

The first 75 people to donate $10 or more will receive a Dunkin Donut coffee mug and everyone who donates will receive a coupon for a free doughnut.

Special Olympics Illinois supports nearly 23,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and more than 20,000 young athletes ages 2-7 with and without intellectual disabilities from communities throughout the state including Huntley.
