Pottawatomie Garden Club to learn about garden designs and Impressionism on May 21

The Pottawatomie Garden Club is having a busy month of May.

On Wednesday, May 16, the garden club will be planting flowers in downtown St. Charles and along the bridges.

On Monday, May 21, the garden club will meet for its monthly meeting at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 Cedar Ave. in downtown St. Charles. A social time starts at 11:30 a.m., followed by a business meeting and program.

This month, Laura Mueller, an artist and art historian from the Art Institute of Chicago, will talk about famous painters, such as French artist Claude Monet and Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh, and discuss how these artists reflected the gardening styles and garden designs of their 19th-century era.

For more information, go to www.pottagardenclub.org. The public is always welcome.

This summer, the garden club will hold its biennial garden walk featuring six gardens from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 14. There also will be a "Garden Gate Boutique." Tickets will be $15 in advance or $20 at the gate.
