YMCA celebrates Healthy Kids Day

The Tri-Town YMCA's annual Healthy Kids Day celebration this month will feature healthy cooking demonstrations, hands-on experiences with karate with instructors from Sky Centers Martial Arts and more.

The free event will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 21, at Manor Hill Elementary School, 1464 S. Main St., Lombard. Plans also call for music, a photo booth, inflatables, games and giveaways.

"We've got two hours of drop-in fun planned for Healthy Kids Day," Tri-Town Executive Director Deb Allen said, "and there will be plenty of take-away ideas for families to put into action and create a healthy, happy and boredom-free summer."

The Y's Kids participants will be showcasing their singing talents at the event, and other highlights include arts and crafts, face painting and Earth Day stations.

Healthy Kids Day is celebrated at more than 1,500 YMCAs across the country with a message of getting more kids moving and learning and creating habits they can continue all summer.
