The Citizen Police Academy is an 11-week program designed to give participants a working knowledge of the Huntley Police Department. It consists of a series of classes and discussions which provide an overview of the various areas of law enforcement. It is an educational and informative program that allows citizens the opportunity to learn about the issues that affect law enforcement efforts in the Village of Huntley.

The Citizen Police Academy is free and is open to individuals who are at least 18 years of age and live or work in the Village of Huntley. Applicants will be subject to a background check.

Advance registration is required and seating is limited. If you are interested in attending the Citizen Police Academy and would like an application, they are available at the Police Department or can be downloaded from the Village of Huntley Police Department website, www.huntley.il.us.

For information, contact Officer Megan Racila at (847) 515-5411 or

mracila@huntley.il.us. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Graduates of the program are not certified police officers, however they are prepared with a better knowledge of how law enforcement agencies operate. Some graduates will decide to join the Huntley Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association which provides continuing education and volunteer opportunities with the department.
