Downers Grove district seeks community feedback

Residents in Downers Grove Elementary District 58 are being asked to take its Vision 58 strategic planning survey online at www.ecrasurvey.com/dg58 through Jan. 27.

The survey takes about 10 minutes and offers residents, including those without children in District 58 schools, a chance to share perceptions of the district and a vision for its future. The survey takes participants to a third-party website and all responses will remain anonymous.

"We hope this online survey offers residents a convenient way to contribute their insights into the planning process," Superintendent Kari Cremascoli said.

Families without computer access may complete the survey at school and district offices.

District 58 will use the feedback to better understand the community's aspirations for its schools and to inform its new strategic plan. The current strategic plan was approved in 2011 and can be viewed online at www.dg58.org/strategicplan.

In addition to the online survey, the district is planning three community forums:

• 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at O'Neill Middle School, 635 59th St., for south-side residents.

• 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Herrick Middle School, 4435 Middaugh Ave., for north-side residents.

• 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Longfellow Center, 1435 Prairie Ave., for all residents

Two daytime forums specifically designed for District 58 parents will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Downers Grove Public Library.

The community forums will complement nearly 50 focus group meetings with stakeholder groups later this month.

Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, an independent research firm, is conducting the surveys, forums and focus groups. The firm will analyze responses and prepare a strategic plan report for the district to share with the community in spring 2018.
