Visit free health care fair Jan. 7 in Round Lake

U.S. Rep. Brad Schneider, Democrat from Deerfield, and state Rep. Sam Yingling, a Democrat from Grayslake, are teaming up to host a free Health Care Fair for local residents from noon-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 114 Lincoln Ave., in Round Lake.

"This winter is expected to be one of the worst flu seasons on record, and it is important that we work to provide a safe and healthy community for all," Yingling said. "By teaming up with Congressman Brad Schneider to help provide preventive health services at no cost to local residents, we can better help keep our communities healthy this winter and beyond."

"There's nothing more important than the health of you and your family," said Schneider. "I'm glad to work with Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics and my colleague State Representative Yingling to bring flu shots and other health services to the Round Lake area free of charge. I hope you will join us on Jan. 7."

Schneider and Yingling are partnering with Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics to offer the free services including flu shots, blood pressure testing and diabetes screenings.

Attendees can also work with Yingling's staff to see if they have any unclaimed funds or assets in their name through the state's iCash program. Constituent Service Representatives from Schneider's office will be on hand to help attendees with any issues involving the federal government - from Social Security and Medicare to the Veterans Affairs and immigration.

The event is open to the public and all services are donated by Rosalind Franklin University Health Clinics. Assistance will be provided on a first come first serve basis or until supplies run out. Bilingual staff will also be available.

For information, contact Yingling's office at (847) 231-6262 or Schneider's office at (847) 383-4870.
