District 205 schools invite service members to join Veterans Day assemblies

As they have for many years, York High School and Churchville Middle School in Elmhurst will have special assemblies to honor veterans on Veterans Day.

York High School's seventh annual all-school Veterans Day assembly begins at 8 a.m. Friday, Nov 10. Any interested U.S. veterans as well as current servicemen and -women are invited to come to be honored in York's Campbell Gym. The assembly will include speeches from selected veterans, as well as York students and administrators. Veterans are encouraged to arrive at 7:15 a.m. for coffee, pastries and bagels in the school's Yorker Room, 355 W. St. Charles Road, Elmhurst. Guests should enter through main door, No. 3.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, members of the York Student Council will serve a free breakfast to American veterans and their families and friends from 9 to 11 a.m. in the high school cafeteria.

Churchville Middle School welcomes veterans and their families to join the school's ninth annual Veterans Day Assembly from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in Churchville Middle School, 155 Victory Parkway, Elmhurst. Enter at the main entrance.

To attend the Churchville Middle School assembly, RSVP to prichey@elmhurst205.org or call (630) 832-8682, ext. 3949, to say who will be attending the event. You will be contacted with further information about the event and have the opportunity to ask questions prior to the event.
