Batavia Homecoming Week steps off with parade Oct. 4

Batavia High School's 2017 Homecoming Week starts Monday, Oct. 2.

The Homecoming parade steps off at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4. It will begin at River Street, head west on Wilson Street, and end at Batavia High School.

The Wilson Street bridge and Wilson Street between routes 25 and 31 will close at 4:40 p.m. to through traffic. If there is inclement weather, the cancellation will be made at 4 p.m. and an announcement will be posted on the Batavia High School and District websites, Twitter accounts, and Facebook pages. Unfortunately, due to police regulations and logistics, the parade cannot be rescheduled.

The Batavia Unit School District 101 Hall of Honor celebration begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Batavia Fine Arts Centre, 1201 Main St. The district will welcome eight inductees into the Hall of Honor.

The Hall of Honor was initiated by the Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence and the district to promote pride in Batavia public schools and to honor alumni, faculty, and friends who have made outstanding accomplishments in their communities and personal lives.

The event is open to the community. It will feature cuisine from local restaurants, including Gaetano's, Pal Joey's, Crosstown Pub and Grill, Rivers Edge Bar & Grill, Aliano's Ristorante, Fernando's Street Kitchen, and Chick-fil-A.

Tickets are $25 or $5 for children, age 15 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at hoh.ezregister.com or at the door.

Michael J. Fisher (1993), Roy C. Bailey Jr. (1966), Pat Bergeson (1979), Corey Williams (1992), the late Francis Alberovsky (1934), the late Thomas L. Schmitz (1958).

John Heath, 22 years of service, 1990-2012

Friends:

The late Richard Johnson

The Homecoming game will pit the Batavia Bulldogs against the South Elgin Storm at Bulldog Stadium.

Kick-off time is 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6. The 2017 Homecoming Court and Hall of Honor inductees will be introduced between games.
