S.O.S. Freedom, Inc. Presents Scholarships to Marine Corps. Recruits

Support Our Soldiers Freedom, Inc. (S.O.S. Freedom), a Deerfield, Ill.-based nonprofit presented scholarships to two Deerfield High School graduates who are leaving for boot camp with the Marines in September.

Sebastian McAlister and Sergio Rangel are headed to San Diego, Calif. to begin their careers with the Marines. "We are very proud of these young men and grateful for the decision they made to dedicate their lives to protecting our country," said Marilee Papale Shipman, S.O.S. Freedom founder.

"I am so happy to receive the scholarship from S.O.S. Freedom, Inc.," said McAlister. It makes me feel even more appreciated," he stated. "This is really amazing," exclaimed Rangel. "I'm shocked by the scholarship and I'm excited to become a Marine and serve the United States, he said.

In addition to scholarships, S.O.S. Freedom, Inc. provides financial support for expenses not covered by military benefits including household payments, repairs and modifications; transportation and automotive repairs, complimetary and alternative medicine (CAM) and urgent and critical health care.
