Grayslake Lions to host annual Steer Roast
The Grayslake Lions Club will hold its 54th annual Steer Roast on Sunday, Sept. 10, at Grayslake Middle School, 440 N. Barron Blvd., Grayslake.
The event will be held in memory of Lion Terry Rockenbach, who was the grill master for the event for many years.
All-you-can-eat, slow-roasted beef will be on the menu, along with a variety of fixings and side dishes, like corn on the cob, baked potatoes and rolls. Beverages are also available.
Drive-through service will be available starting at 11 a.m.
Seated dining will be available from noon to 5 p.m., and carryouts will also be available.
Tickets for a meal are $14 for ages 12-61, $11 for ages 62 and older, and $7 for ages 5-11. Tickets can be purchased in advance for a $1 discount by calling (847) 223-5222.
In addition to meals of roasted beef, the Lions will offer dog bones, soup bones and shredded beef for purchase.
A 50/50 raffle will be held, with tickets available for $2 each or six for $10, with a guarantee of $500 in total prizes.
A Lions Foundation bus will be on-site to do vision and hearing screenings at no cost, and free heart screenings will also be available during the event.
Proceeds go toward the club's community service activities, including sight conservation and services for the blind and hearing-impaired.
