Aurora Noon Lions Club celebrate eclipse with sweet treats

A solar eclipse event in Aurora didn't just offer a spectacle for Aurora Noon Lions Club members. Earlier it offered some sweets for their stomachs.

Sun and stars-shaped Rice Krispies-cereal treats and vanilla, chocolate and banana-flavored Moon Pies confections were served for desserts at the service club's bi-weekly luncheon meeting at Luigi's Pizza in Aurora.

Noon Lions president Bob Cissell and his wife, Debby, donated the treats.

For a raffle, Debby Cissell crafted an eclipse-themed gift basket which included Star Crunch cookies, sunflower seeds, Eclipse chewing gum and dried raisins and prunes.

Club members gathered on Luigi's parking lot to watch the eclipse after lunch. The Cissells provided members with solar safety sunglasses.

Prospective members are invited to visit the Aurora Noon Lions Club on the first and third Mondays at Luigi's Pizza, 732 Prairie St. in Aurora.
