Barrington Street Fest and Dance is Aug. 26

The Barrington Street Fest and Dance is the perfect way to close out summer 2017.

Presented by the Barrington Breakfast Rotary Club, with The Village of Barrington, the Street Fest is a family-friendly event featuring music, food and a Kids Zone.

The event will be from 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, in downtown Barrington on Cook and Station streets. The Kids Zone will have various crafts and entertainment, including putt putt golf, balloon animals, face painting and slime making.

In addition, there will be three bands with strong local followings presented on the Barrington Bank & Trust Main Stage. The bands are Miss Myra and the Moonshiners from 2:45 to 4 p.m., 7th heaven from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and ARRA from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Food vendors and trucks in attendance include Remember Charlotte's Pizza, PIKO, Toasty Cheese, Best Truckin BBQ, Good Ol' Dogs, Mario's Cart, and Crave Bar for some sweet treats.

The Barrington Rotary tent will be the exclusive server of alcoholic beverages that include beer, wine, and strawberry margaritas.

"I'm excited because we're trying something new by bringing in these food trucks, and because the bands are leading bands throughout the Chicagoland area," said Trudy Wehren of the Barrington Breakfast Rotary.

"Also, the Kids Zone has been enhanced with the help of Barrington High School and Harper College. Every part has really been upgraded - the marketing and the overall experience."

Admission is free, with food and drinks sold in exchange for tickets that can be purchased at the entrance. Each ticket will be worth $1. Cash and credit cards are accepted, but not checks. Parking is available in the Metra commuter lot, which is about two blocks from the festival.
