Fox Lake's Land & Lake Days features cardboard regatta

The village of Fox Lake will present its second Land & Lake Days celebration Friday and Saturday, Aug. 19 and 20, at Lakefront Park, 71 Nippersink Blvd., Fox Lake.

Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The festival will include a balloon artist, live entertainment, a face painter, pony and camel rides, henna tattoos, bounce houses, a beer tent and food vendors. Admission is free.

Saturday's entertainment will feature juggler, unicyclist, fire-eater and physical comedian Ken Schultz, "The Flying Fool," at 2 p.m.; steel drum band Tropixplosion at 4 p.m.; and cover band 28 Days at 7 p.m.

Sunday will feature the 20th annual Cardboard Cup Regatta. Registration and on-site boat building will begin at 8 a.m. The race will begin at noon. Registration is $30, which includes a boatbuilding kit.

There are four categories for on-site and off-site boat building: children ages 10 and younger; children ages 11-15; adults 16 and older; and businesses.

Medals will be given to all children that race in the boat. Trophies will be awarded for first and second place, Best of Show and Fastest Sinking in each category. There are no restrictions on the length of the boat or crew size.
