Lincolnshire names Community Partner of the Year

On Aug. 5, the Lincolnshire Police Department commenced its 2017 National Night Out with the announcement of its inaugural "Community Partner of the Year." The award was issued to Sedgebrook retirement community. The criteria for the award included:

• Lincolnshire business, association, or organization.

• Excels in all aspects of partnership: communication, collaboration, and cooperation.

• Supportive of the village of Lincolnshire and its police department's community programs, including the development of new programs and expansion of existing programs.

• Encourages educational awareness with law enforcement and the citizens of the area.

• Volunteers at special events in the village of Lincolnshire.

Throughout the year, Sedgebrook partnered with the Lincolnshire Police Department hosting Coffee with a Cop and other similar meet and greet events, and organized safety presentations for residents and staff.

In addition, Sedgebrook devotes a portion of its residential newsletter to the police department to educate residents on scams and other pertinent security matters. The Sedgebrook staff regularly welcomes members of the police department to join any special programs and facility events.

At the Aug. 7 village board meeting, the Lincolnshire Village Board recognized the promotion of police officer Michael Clark to the rank of sergeant.

Clark began his career in law enforcement in 1994. He joined the Lincolnshire Police Department in 2002.

During his tenure with the village of Lincolnshire, he's served in the patrol division, and is currently one of the department's trainers. Recently, he was selected to serve as an Officer in Charge for his shift. Clark has a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Loyola University and a master's degree in public safety administration from Lewis University.
