Schaumburg Continues Cleanup Efforts After Storm

The Village of Schaumburg is continuing cleanup efforts after yesterday's storm damaged trees, homes and property; produced large hail; and flooded streets in various sections of the village.

Crews from the village's Engineering & Public Works are continuing to clear debris from roadways. Work is continuing today and will be ongoing for the next few days until the cleanup is complete. Today's efforts include six chippers, three rapid response crews and three sweepers, all working together to remove branches, trees and other objects from village roadways and parkways.

Some of the hardest hit areas include Roselle Road west to Salem Drive and Schaumburg Road south to Wise Road, however, crews are responding to a variety of other isolated damages that have occurred in other parts of the village.

The village will be providing a special brush pickup for residents. Smaller brush can be placed curbside in the parkway in preparation for brush collection; information on how to prepare brush is located on the village's website at http://bit.ly/1UyUQbL. Details and additional information on the special brush collection pickup will be provided on the village's website at www.schaumburg.com once it becomes available.

Crews worked throughout the night to clear storm sewer inlets to prevent further flooding of streets. As of today, no standing water is being reported on village streets. Residents are being asked to make sure their storm sewer inlets are clear from leaves and other debris to prevent further flooding.

Residents are encouraged to dial 311 in the village or call (847) 895-4500 outside the village to report any issues of large debris in streets or parkways, hanging tree branches, or other items that may pose a safety hazard.
