Taste of Des Plaines returns Friday and Saturday

The 2017 Taste of Des Plaines officially kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday, June 16, followed by a fun-filled day and evening on Saturday, June 17.

The festival, which runs from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, features live music, food from local restaurants and free entertainment.

In addition to live entertainment on two stages, the festival features a wine and beer garden and a family area with free activities, including a rock climbing wall, a petting zoo, a classic car show and a gaming truck, among other attractions.

Main Stage entertainment includes on Friday the D62s at 5 p.m., Kevin Purcell and the Nightburners at 7 p.m. and 7th heaven at 9 p.m.

Saturday performers are Bunny Repellent at noon, Tainted Jake at 1:30 p.m., Beggars Banquet at 3 p.m., The Who's Who at 5 p.m., Kashmir at 7 p.m. and 97 Nine at 9 p.m.

Community Stage performances run from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and include a martial arts show, a reptile show, a magic show and other performers, concluding with Rosie & The Rivets at 6:30 p.m.

At the entrance to the Des Plaines Library, 1501 Ellinwood Ave., The Barefoot Hawaiians will perform at 1:30 p.m. and Sol Azteca at 5:30 p.m., with performances by people from the park district arts programs at 3 p.m.

Restaurants include American Wildburger, Charcoal Delights, Evan's Place, Mexico Restaurant, Rivers Casino, Rosati's Pizza, Sunrise Grill, T-Bob's Smoked Bar-B-Q, Tap House Grill and Tiki Terrace.

The festival is in downtown Des Plaines by the Metra train station, 150 Miner St. Parking is free and easily accessible.
