Elk Grove Village to host recycling event June 3

The village of Elk Grove will host a Document Destruction and Electronics Recycling Event at Fire Station 8, 1000 Oakton St., from 9 a.m. to noon June 3. Residents from SWANCC communities are eligible to participate. Materials will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools, or institutions, and IDs will be checked.

For paper, there is a limit of six file boxes or paper bags, and all plastic, metal clips or binders must be removed. Plastic is a contaminant, as are photos, slides, and any non-paper items. Workers will remove the paper documents while residents stay their vehicles. Paper is shredded on-site and will be recycled to make new paper products.

Most electronic items are accepted, but large home appliances are not accepted.

For detailed information on what items will be accepted, visit swancc.org or call (847) 724-9205.
