Rethinking John's Revelation - Book and Bible Study

Join us for a fresh look at the Revelation of John, the last book in our Bible. This combination book and Bible study will meet weekly April 26 to May 24 from 6:30 - 7:45pm at St. Matthew United Church of Christ, 1420 S. Gables Blvd, Wheaton. We will be studying the book "Unholy Allegiances: Heeding Revelation's Warning," by Dr. David deSilva. Books are available for purchase in the church office for $10.

The Book of Revelation and speculation about the apocalypse is confusing and troubling to many people. Dr. DeSilva explains in his book how the Book of Revelation was written by John as practical lessons for seven congregations that actually existed during the time of the Roman Empire. During our study we will explore the myths about Revelation, how John addressed his readers to discern the truths and untruths of the Roman authority, and through Revelation how we can learn to be radically obedient to God.

One chapter will be discussed weekly. If possible, please read the first chapter prior to the initial meeting.

St. Matthew United Church of Christ is located at 1420 S. Gables Blvd., Wheaton, IL 60189.
