McFun for Sherwood School at the Bannockburn McDonald's

Sherwood School from NSSD 112 held their first McTeacher's Night at the Bannockburn McDonald's on Waukegan Road on Tuesday, April 18. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Tuesday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Sherwood School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Twenty teachers worked from the elementary school, including Principal Walker. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Principal Walker had a blast walking around the restaurant in a pie costume. He was encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie.

A special thank you goes to PTO VP of fundraising, Shari Schachter, who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Sherwood teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening.

The Sherwood School Parent Organization plan to use the money raised for teacher wish list items, wipe board tables, flexible seating and computer supplies.

The PTO raised $850.00 at the event thanks to all the singing the teachers did for tips and McTeacher Danny Jesselson at the drive-thru.
