BARRINGTON - Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois plans to open its new Pepper Family Hospice Home and Center for Care in about 45 days.

The $18.5 million facility located at 405 Lake Zurich Road in Barrington will house 16 patient care rooms and all of the agency's administrative and clinical offices.

It will be the first "green" hospice in the state and among the first in the country, developers said.

The facility is scheduled to receive patients beginning July 1.

Construction on the project began in April 2009.

The building is situated on 6.7 acres of partially wooded land, surrounded by natural grasses and a healing garden.
