The 20th annual Gold Medal Fashion Show, sponsored by numerous corporate sponsors and Special Leisure Services Foundation (SLSF), the fundraising arm of Northwest Special Recreation Association, will be held from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at The Meadows Club in Rolling Meadows. The event will benefit more than 1,100 Special Olympics Illinois athletes in the Northwest Suburbs.

SLSF, a nonprofit agency, provides recreational opportunities to individuals with disabilities throughout 17 Northwest Suburban park districts. NWSRA is in its 36th year of providing opportunities and services through recreation for children and adults with disabilities in participating communities.

Money raised annually from the event provides year-round training and competition opportunities at no cost to these special athletes.

In the spirit of the occasion, 40 Special Olympics Illinois athletes and future athletes will be modeling the latest fashions. With a theme of "A Royal Celebration," guests will also delight in a luncheon, raffles and a grand prize drawing. Tickets are $40. All are welcome to help make this popular fundraising event a truly special day.

SLSF thanks in advance Premier Partners Schneider Electric/Square D and Berry Plastics; Opportunity Partner Northwest Community Hospital; Diamond Sponsor The Kotel Foundation; Emerald Table Sponsors Arlington Park and Benefax, and Gold Sponsor The Bloomingdale's Fund of the Macy's Foundation.

For event information and volunteer opportunities, contact Nanette Sowa, NWSRA, (847) 392-2848 x. 255 nsowa@nwsra.org.
