A pair of Elgin men were arrested Sunday on charges of robbing a third man of $100, police said.
Charged with robbery are: Roy L. Scruggs, a 38-year-old homeless man living in Elgin, and Wynston V. Day, 26, of the 200 block of National Street.
According to police, Scruggs and Day approached a 37-year-old man in the 200 block of Raymond Street at 9:49 p.m., grabbed him and took the cash away from him.
Police found and arrested the two men a short distance away, Deputy Police Chief Jeffrey Swoboda said.
Scruggs has 36 convictions on his record, some that involve assault, burglary, drug possession and larceny, according to court records.
Day, meanwhile, was on parole from a 2008 retail theft conviction.
Monday morning, Kane County Judge Bruce Lester set Scruggs' bond at 10 percent of $70,000.
Day has to pay $6,500 to get out of jail while the charges are pending.
Both were unable to post bond and remain at Kane County lockup to await their Dec. 8 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
They could spend between three and seven years in jail, if found guilty of robbery.
