I have read several articles on the proposed decision to cut the pay of top executives at companies on taxpayer life support. Opponents claim this would cause a brain drain and these well-qualified people would leave their jobs for more pay.
These are the same people that got these companies into this trouble. These executives have big mortgages, college education payments and other things to pay. Well, welcome to the real world.
How many people's lives were turned around because of their incompetence? Instead of using their brains to get their companies back on their feet, they will be using their brains to figure how they can work around this pay cut and give them more money.
Let's look at the big picture. They want to give these executives big compensations save from leaving the company. These are the executives who manipulated rules and other sources to make big profits. Giving people loans that could barely make their payments. The same executives that instead of making fuel-efficient cars, produced big SUVs, which were great profit makers until the gas went to four dollars a gallon.
Profit increased in the manufacturing industries because it was more profitable to manufacture items in China and other foreign countries.
Then the bubble burst. All these corporations started to cry. They need money to continue to exist. Not millions but billions of dollars. The government has to give them money - from the average taxpayer. And now these leeches want bonuses and higher wages.
Did I forget the word that describes this scenario? Greed.
These are corporations. Let's run them like corporations. Taxpayers now own a big part of these corporations. Send out the proxy vote forms and let us all vote on what type of compensation they deserve.
