The second teen held in connection with the Halloween night shooting of a 15-year-old in Streamwood has been released from custody, Streamwood Deputy Police Chief Jim Gremo said.

The teen was released Tuesday and hasn't been charged, Gremo said.

Another teen, 15-year-old Jose Perez of Hanover Park, was charged as an adult with attempted murder. Police said Perez and another person, both wearing masks, walked up to the victim around 8 p.m. Saturday outside the 3000 block of Club Tree Drive.

Police said Perez shot the victim twice, in the face and in the buttocks, without provocation. They arrested Perez at the Bartlett Square Apartments later that night and said he possessed a .32-caliber gun used in the shooting. Perez was given a $1 million bond and remains jailed.

Gremo said the incident remains under investigation. The victim was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates and on Monday was in stable condition. An update to his condition was unavailable.
