• Shelena S. Houston, 24, of the 600 block of Wellington Avenue, Elgin, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday at Dundee Avenue and Hickory Place on a warrant for several drug related felonies from May 2009, police said. Her bond was set at 10 percent of $100,000. She has been charged with delivery of marijuana, possession of marijuana, delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, in this case Garfield Elementary School, 420 May St., police said. The most serious felony carries a prison term of four to 15 years. Houston is due in court on Nov. 12.
• Someone used a red landscaping brick to break the windshield on a minivan in the 600 block of Spring Street between 12:01 a.m. and 7:54 a.m. Tuesday, reports said.
• A teal, four-door 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera was stolen from the 400 block of Park Street between 1 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday, reports said.
• Someone used a BB gun to shoot out the back window of a 1996 Dodge Caravan in the 500 block of Grace Street between 6 p.m. Monday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, reports said.
• A fur coat and laptop computer were stolen between 9 p.m. Saturday and 6:40 p.m. Tuesday from a residence in the 0-99 block of Vine Street, reports said. A large tree branch may have been used to pry open a window, reports said.
• A red 2009 Pontiac G4 was reported stolen at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after it was determined missing after an inventory check by Bigger's Chevrolet, 1385 E. Chicago St., reports said.
• Cheryl L. Western, 42, of the 100 block of Todd Farm Drive, Elgin, was arrested and charged with felony theft after an arrest at 10:52 p.m. Monday at Royal Street and Royal Court, police said. Western is accused of stealing two rings worth about $700. Her bond was set at 10 percent of $2,000 and she is due in court on Nov. 17. She faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
Kane County
• Police are investigating an apparent burglary attempt Monday on the 4N400 block of Old Quarry Road, St. Charles Township. A woman told police she came home at 3:13 p.m. and heard noises coming from an upstairs room. She went outside and saw a man jump off her second-story balcony and run west through the neighborhood, police said. The suspect was described as a clean-shaven white man 17 to 20 years old with short brown hair and wearing a gray shirt with a stripe and blue jeans. The man was seen carrying a silver toolbox. No property was reported stolen or disturbed at the residence.
• A vehicle was reported damaged shortly after midnight Sunday when a group of 15 to 20 boys surrounded it, beat on it and climbed on top while it was on the 39W400 block of Sulley Drive in Blackberry Township, police said. The driver admitted he and others in the vehicle had been "egging" houses when the incident happened, according to a police report.
• A white 2004 Bobcat mini-excavator valued at $30,000 was reported stolen Monday from a construction site at Route 25 and Kenyon Road in Elgin Township, according to a police report.
