An agreement is in the works that will end Bensenville's long-running feud with Chicago over expanding O'Hare International Airport.

It just won't happen this week.

Attorneys for both sides told DuPage Judge Kenneth Popejoy on Wednesday they need more time to negotiate the deal that would allow Chicago to move ahead with plans to create six parallel runways and build a western terminal.

The project has been delayed because Bensenville sued Chicago over the environmental impact of razing 600 homes and businesses in the village.

Now Bensenville officials are saying the city is showing "good faith" in coming to terms with the village's concerns, which include restricting construction hours and monitoring the demolition site.

On Wednesday, Mary Dickson, Bensenville's attorney, told Popejoy that making sure every T is crossed and every I is dotted on the proposed settlement is simply taking longer than originally expected.

The next court date is Nov. 12.
