Buffalo Grove

• Cary Michael Aiello, 39, of the 300 block of Inwood, Wheeling, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Nov. 3 on the 600 block of North Deerfield Parkway and charged with false personation of a firefighter/paramedic and unlawful use of a weapon. Reports said an officer stopped a vehicle with blacked out windows. The driver presented a black credentials wallet containing a silver badge and said, "Hey, I'm a firefighter for Niles." The Niles Fire Department said the driver was not an employee. The driver exited his car and an open switch blade knife was detected. His court date is Nov. 19 in Waukegan.

• Young Min Yang, 17, of 200 block of Willow Parkway in Buffalo Grove, was arrested about 4:20 p.m. Oct. 29 at Dominick's, 450 Half Day Road, and charged with retail theft after a store official said he stopped the subject leaving the store with bottles of rum which he did not pay for. His court date is Dec. 10 in Mundelein.

Mount Prospect

• John L. Guy, 27, of the 0-100 block of Wimbolton Drive, Mount Prospect, was arrested around 10:10 p.m. Oct. 29 at his home and charged with felony retail theft. Reports said he took two faucets off a shelf at Home Depot, placed them in a shopping bag he had in his pocket, and received store credit at the return counter. A security agent, suspicious of Guy's many merchandise returns, had followed him and witnessed the theft. He tried to stop Guy in the parking lot, but Guy ran away. Guy had given his Illinois ID card at the return counter and the clerk still had the card. Officers found him at his home.

• Three men punched a 27-year-old man in the face inside his apartment on the 2300 block of Lexington Drive around 9 p.m. Oct. 21 and stole his wallet with credit cards and $200. The men were looking for the victim's brother who was not home at the time. One of the robbers asked to use the bathroom and attacked the man on his way out. The other two offenders entered the apartment and also punched the victim. He found his wallet on his balcony but the money and one debit card were missing. He saw the robbers ride off on bicycles.

• Thieves stole an 800-pound snowplow, valued at $3,440, chained to a pole behind Mount Prospect Paint, 500 W. Northwest Hwy., between 6 p.m. Nov. 1 and p.m. Nov. 2.

• Thieves stole an orange fiberglass ladder, valued at $300, with "HRO Eng" written on the side after the victim left it on the grass between the sidewalk and street at a home on the 0-100 block of North Pine Street between 5:20 and 5:30 p.m. Nov. 1.

• Vandals broke the outer pane of a double-pane window on the Can Dota Avenue side of Lincoln Junior High School, 700 W. Lincoln St., between Oct. 23 and 26. A golf club head was found on the ground near the window. Damage was estimated at $250.

• A man stole a kitchen mixer valued at $500 from Kohl's, 1500 S. Elmhurst Road, around 1:50 p.m. Nov. 2. He walked out an emergency door and left in a blue 1994 Chevrolet sedan. He was described as 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 180 pounds, muscular build, goatee, and wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants and knit hat over his head.

Rolling Meadows

• Romualdo Murillo-Suarez, 31, of the 2800 block of Northampton Drive, Rolling Meadows, was arrested at 4:57 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Extended Stay hotel, 2400 Golf Road, and charged with trespass to vehicle and resisting arrest. His next court date is Nov. 20. Reports said a hotel occupant heard his car alarm go off and saw Murillo-Suarez inside the complainant's 1994 red Jeep Cherokee. When the complainant yelled down from his room, Murillo-Suarez began to walk away. The complainant followed the Murillo-Suarez, who began to run east on Golf Road. The complainant got two officers at a traffic hazard to join the chase. They called for additional officers and Murillo-Suarez was stopped in the Ned Brown Forest Preserve a short distance away.

•Thieves entered a 2003 burgundy Dodge Ram van and removed a brown, leather purse and checkbook on the passenger seat on Oct. 28 in the 2200 block of Algonquin Parkway.

Hoffman Estates

• Burglars broke into a 2008 Acura TL on the 2200 block of Seaver Lane between 8 p.m. Oct. 30 and 7:45 a.m. Oct. 31 and stole a gym bag with clothes. Loss was estimated at $2,340.

• Burglars broke into a home on the 1100 block of Dresden Drive between 2:30 and 4:43 p.m. Nov. 1 and stole jewelry and a women's watch valued at $10,000.

• Vandals slashed two tires on a 1995 Honda Odyssey and punctured one tire on a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer, two tires on a 2001 Mercedes-Benz, and one tire on a 2000 Honda Passport between 3:45 and 8 p.m. Oct. 30 in a business lot at 2356 W. Higgins Road.

• Burglars broke into a 2002 Toyota Corolla in a lot at Life Changers Church, 2500 Beverly Road, between 8 and 10 p.m. Oct. 31 and stole an iTouch and video game player with two games. Value was estimated at $550.

• Burglars broke into two Honda Odyssey taxis in a driveway on the 100 block of Arizona Boulevard between 8:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and 2 a.m. Nov. 3 and stole a GPS unit out of each vehicle. Value was estimated at $640.

• Vandals slashed two tires on a 2006 Cadillac Escalade in a bar parking lot at 2308 Higgins Road between 3 p.m. Oct. 30 and 4:30 a.m. Oct. 31. Damage was estimated at $550.

Schaumburg

• Edward R. Kryger, 22, of the 400 block of South Oak Street, Itasca, was arrested around 1:50 a.m. Oct. 31 on Roselle Road at Illinois Avenue and charged with possession of marijuana, driving under the influence and traffic violations. His court date is Nov. 17.

• Matthew A. Gardynski, 17, of the 600 block of Tallgrass Lane, Lake Villa, and Stephan J. McFarren, 17, of the 100 block of Fieldstone Court, Lake Villa, were arrested around 9 p.m. Oct. 30 at Macy's in Woodfield Mall and charged with retail theft. Their court date is Dec. 3.

• Mital R. Patel, 20, of the 400 block of Ashland Street, Hoffman Estates, was arrested around 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at Dominick's, 200 S. Roselle Road, and charged with retail theft and possession of marijuana. His court date is Nov. 25.

• Janitta M. Bueno, 17, and Maria D. Cernas, 17, both of the 700 block of Alcoa Lane, Hoffman Estates, were arrested around 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at J.C. Penney in Woodfield Mall and charged with retail theft. Their court date is Dec. 3.

• Adolfo Cortez-Hernandez, 27, of the 700 block of Swift Road, Addison, was arrested around 7:20 p.m. Oct. 31 at J.C. Penney in Woodfield Mall and charged with retail theft. His court date is Nov. 25.

• Thieves stole landscaping tools valued at $1,800 out of an unlocked trailer at Pickwick Drive and Dickens Way between 11 a.m. and noon Oct. 29.

• Burglars broke into a 2006 Nissan Xterra in a business lot at 1990 E. Algonquin Road between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 and stole a purse. Loss was estimated at $350.

• Thieves smashed the window of a 2004 gray Honda Odyssey the morning of Oct. 31 parked at a church at 800 Rohlwing Road and removed a GPS unit, for a loss of $850.

• Thieves smashed the driver's-side window to a 2006 Pontiac Oct. 30-31 in the 1200 block of Carnegie and removed an car stereo for a loss of $500.
