CHAMPAIGN -- Illinois State Police found 1,455 pounds of marijuana inside a rental truck that was pulled over in rural Champaign.

Authorities say the driver gave officers permission to search the truck during Saturday's stop and a police dog alerted them to the presence of an illegal drug.

Officers say the driver told them he was headed from Houston to Danville.

State police arrested driver Leopoldo Requena of Saybrook and passenger Fidencio Cesar Udabe of Houston for unlawful marijuana trafficking.

Both men pleaded not guilty Monday and are slated to return to court on Dec. 8. They're being held at the Champaign County Jail on $150,000 bond each.

Police officials say the marijuana had a street value of about $6 million.
