The Red Oak Room at Cantigny Golf in Wheaton is hosting a Whiskey and Hors d'oeuvres Reception. The tasting event will feature selections of Scotch and whiskey, along with a variety of hors d' oeuvres. Products from Scotland's Glenlivet Distillery are featured throughout the night. Winston Evans, a representative from Glenlivet, will serve and discuss the served liquor samples.

Chili cookoff

Mickey Finn's Brewery in Libertyville hosts its 13th annual Chili Cookoff, featuring up to 10 entrants who will serve what they believe is the best chili around. Winners will be determined by official judges and a popular vote. Along with sampling the chili recipes, patrons can have some of the brewery's well-known Amber Ale, while they watch the Chicago Bears play football on a 16-foot high definition TV screen.

Fall menu extended

At the request of patrons, the $39 three-course prix fixe Fall Menu will now continue through Monday, Nov. 29, at The Capital Grille in Rosemont. Entree selections include crab and lobster stuffed jumbo shrimp, herb marinated tenderloin or sliced dry aged sirloin with horseradish. Top off dinner with sweet desserts of warm apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream or pumpkin cheesecake with caramel sauce.
