St. John hosts barbecue dinner
Join St. John's Lutheran School, 109 N. Spring St. in Elgin, for a Fay's BBQ Pork Chop and Chicken Dinner fundraiser. This event will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $12 or in advance by calling the school at (847) 741-7633.
Diners can choose to dine-in or carryout. This fundraiser will support the school's ongoing efforts to modernize classrooms with the purchase of SMART Boards. Everyone is welcome.
Little League holds early registration

Donate to Toys for Tots campaign
• Watch City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1307, 1601 Weld Road in Elgin, is a co-sponsor of this year's Marine Corps League Detachment No. 077 Toys for Tots campaign to provide toys for underprivileged children this Christmas. A large box is stationed at the front door for the collection of unwrapped toys. Donations also can be made at toysfortots.org, or a check may be left at the VFW made out to "Toys For Tots." • The Marine Corps League Elgin Detachment No. 077, in partnership with Elgin Township, has designated the township office at 729 S. McLean Blvd., as a Toys for Tots drop-off site. Only new, unwrapped toys will be accepted from Friday, Nov. 6, to Tuesday, Dec. 15.
Burlington UMC hosts annual dinner
The United Methodist Women of the Burlington United Methodist Church invite you to their annual turkey dinner. The all-you-can-eat dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the church, 195 W. Center St., Burlington. Carryouts will be available from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. during the dinner.
